@daniel_bohrer was für ein' scheiß Autocorrect
We should therefore claim, in the name of tolerance, the right to not tolerate the intolerant. We should claim that any movement preaching intolerance places itself outside the law, and we should consider incitement to intolerance and persecution as criminal, in the same way as we should consider incitement to murder, or to kidnapping, or to the revival of the slave trade, as criminal. - KR Popper, The Paradox of Tolerance
But we should claim the right to suppress them if necessary even by force; for it may easily turn out that they are not prepared to meet us on the level of rational argument, but begin by denouncing all argument, because it is deceptive, and teach them to answer arguments by the use of their fists or pistols.
—In this formulation, I do not imply, for instance, that we should always suppress the utterance of intolerant philosophies; as long as we can counter them by rational argument and keep them in check by public opinion, suppression would certainly be most unwise.
Less well known is the paradox of tolerance: unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them.

@bgcarlisle that's usually when the best comedy happens...a comedy of errors, i would say
@bgcarlisle but it's funny nonetheless; as a black person i would have thought it was intentional because it's extra funny.
@bgcarlisle shakespeare would have loved that (and i wonder if it was inadvertent, him being about social commentary in his day, why not update it a bit)
1. it's very easy to talk about your great ideas but putting them into practice is much harder. you have to actually do the work: you can't shunt it off onto other people based on the same oppressive systems you're trying to subvert.
2. you need to consider the practical implications of what you're arguing for, including potential downsides.
3. you can't expect that a utopia is going to be all the things you like about society staying the same and everything you dislike being changed.
